[ stiles is only about halfway through tapping out a semi-suspicious response when he finds himself mildly startled by the sound of someone clearing their throat, and whips around. he has permission to be up here - practically bought his way onto the roof - but he's kind of a jumpy dude in general, especially after someone somehow managed to sneak up on him and... kill him.
it's just laura though, and stiles immediately relaxes, thumbing the button on the side of his phone to power the screen off. he smiles faintly, if a little awkwardly, and though he doesn't say anything about it, he does make a note of how quickly laura managed to find him, even after taking the elevators into consideration. interesting.
tucking his phone away into his pocket, stiles gestures kind of vaguely over his shoulder with his thumb, the edge of the building somewhere behind him. ]
Oh, yeah. That skyline's something else. [ he's being sarcastic. the down doesn't really offer much of a view no matter the vantage point, in his opinion. stiles drops his hand, let's his palm thump quietly against his thigh for a moment, and then seems to remember the whole point of this and scrambles a few steps to pick up the cardboard box he set down a couple feet away from him. ]
Anyway, uh. You found it in record time, so... [ he wanders over, holds the box out toward her. it's not huge, but it's not small either - about a foot on all sides, and no more than five pounds. ] I guess this is yours.
[ inside, should she decide to open it, is... a seagull. well, a statue of a seagull, carved out of wood (not by stiles), and a folded piece of construction paper that just reads 'HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY -STILES' in somewhat messy caps.
he may or may not have bought the statue before he knew that penagos had made an appearance, but - well, maybe now penagos can have a friend. ]
