[ stiles pauses for a moment, staring down at his phone, eyebrows pinched slightly. did he 'experience those dreams'? ... yes. a lot of them, actually, some of which he could directly interact with and change, some of which he could only simply watch, unable to be seen or heard, never acknowledged, though for the most part, he'd written most of them off as his own brain just - being fucking weird, as per usual.

it's not until right now that he starts to think about the dreams again, flipping through them like they're on a rolodex in his brain. he remembers... something about a little girl, never referred to by name, but just a number. something about training her as a weapon, about - triggering... something. it's all kind of vague, but he remembers enough and he's familiar enough with what the x-gene is to draw some conclusions. ]

Yeah.
I did.

[ that's all he says at first - he doesn't ask her if maybe he dreamt about her. he doesn't have to, now that he's started to piece it all together, now that laura is laying some stuff out for him. how the fuck did he not make this connection sooner? ]

Holy shit
Your dad's
He's Wolverine, isn't he?
Like - the OG.

[ okay - now is probably not the time to be a fucking fanboy, but at least he's aware of that and immediately tones his shit down. there's nothing 'cool' about being experimented on (if he's correct about the dream he had), about being a weapon. when it's real, it's just - stiles can't really put words to it.

but how does he continue the conversation? he... asks a question he's pretty sure he already knows the answer to. ]

What purpose does genetically engineering a mutant serve?
