History: Laura Kinney @ the marvel wiki

CR AU (Optional): Laura spent around 6 months in Duplicity her first time. In that time she struggled to come to terms with her designation and the oppressive nature of the city, manifesting in several citations and a lot of tension between her and the people she knew from her world. In particular her relationship with her father was quite fraught, as he was dead in her canon point and it did not come to light until much later that Logan was eventually brought back to life.

Though she struggled with the rules right up until the very end, Laura did find some semblance of good things in the city, eventually committing to romantic relationships with two old members of her team that she had not reconnected with for some time back home. Her and Logan put a lot of work into repairing their relationship -- they even had a cute little family Christmas -- and while Laura never settled in Duplicity, by the time she left she was overall slightly less combative and reactive.

Personality:

— — — SELF-LOATHING

For the majority of her upbringing, all Laura knew was violence. She was trained to kill from the start, and was racking up a body count before she hit her teenage years. For a long time all she did was kill, and even after being taken away from the people that only wanted her to be a weapon, violence and death still followed close by. Whether or not she could be considered responsible for them, Laura still carries the weight of those actions on her conscience. In addition to this, something she frequently struggles with back and forth is the concept of personhood and how it relates to her as a clone. For a long time she self-harmed as a way of coping with the things she had been made to do as a weapon, and even after she stops Laura is still seen to be incredibly reckless and dismissive of her own harm when it comes to fighting. At one point she devalued her own life as a clone so much that she actively tried to kill herself to keep the "real people" around her alive. She sees it as her obligation to throw herself into the line of fire because she can't be killed, as some kind of atonement for her past, and even when this attitude repeatedly puts strain on her personal relationships, it's something that Laura keeps coming back to. As much as she tries to make progress on forgiving herself and moving on from her past, the hatred she feels for what she's done — and often who she is — is something that Laura frequently comes back to.

— — — ANGER

The only emotion Laura was ever supposed to feel really was rage, and it's something that still continues to define her even as she carves out an identity away from her past as purely a weapon. After linking with the X-Men and other mutants in various teams, she's frequently called upon because of her violent past, recruited for jobs because she's "the angry one", and Laura talks on a number of occasions about how her biggest struggle is to keep that anger in check and not let it consume her. It's something that always exists within her, and a constant source of internal conflict as she tries to forge a new path for herself that isn't surrounded by so much death. Laura will probably always be angry, even if now she's trying to find healthier ways to channel that.

— — — GUARDED

The walls that she has built to cope with her past are extremely high, and made much worse by the lack of proper socialisation for most of her life. For a long time everyone she cared about either died (often by her own hand) or was taken away (usually because of her) and this has made her incredibly reluctant to open up and trust again. There are a select few people that have broken down these walls, most significantly her clone "sister" Gabby, but even with the people she has let in the most she still tries to hold them at arm's length. Multiple relationships end for Laura because she can't properly let people in, or let them see when she is vulnerable, and her response to being hurt is usually to find something to fight.

+ + + EMPATHETIC

Described as 'selfless to a fault', Laura has a far greater degree for empathy than she gives herself credit. She very much perceives herself as cold and unfeeling, but her actions counter this over and over. From joining up with various super groups to taking in her sister and trying to provide a life for her, Laura frequently goes above and beyond to help those in need around her. She puts herself on the line to help others, will make the sacrifice play if it will protect someone. She wants to help more than anything, and there's very little limit to what she might do if she believes there is someone in need. Particularly people who are vulnerable, who cannot protect themselves, or those she has allowed herself to feel close to — but she frequently goes all out for the people who are just as capable of protecting themselves too.

Powers and Abilities:

» Adamantium coated skeleton as of her current canon point (she was resurrected wrong oops :X) featuring retractable bone claws, two from each hand, and one from each foot.

» Regenerative healing — able to recover from massive, fatal injuries within a matter of minutes, resistant to toxins, poisons and illnesses.

» Superhuman agility, reflexes, stamina and durability — Laura was designed and trained to be the perfect killing machine, able to withstand a significant amount of damage even without taking her healing factor into account, and is extremely proficient in hand to hand combat.

» Enhanced senses — in particular her hearing, eyesight and sense of smell are all significantly more powerful than that of a human, able to detect the unhealthy cholesterol levels of a dead man and track people by scent alone with a great degree of accuracy.
